philanthropy
Its a sad testament to our society that vulgar morons like Donald Trump are lionized and truly great men like Chuck Feeney almost forgotten (he made about 4 billion dollars and gave away essentially all of it in secret.)

This is an interesting article on criticizm to the approach the Gates Foundation is taking in the field of global health, and reaction to the latest annual report. I would say the criticizm is fair, and they are known issues inside and are being worked on already. 2 FaversShareViewed: 16 TimesThis is an Interesting article on a new trend in philanthropy, but one that pointlessly muckrakes and takes half a page to get to its actual point. Yes, Google.org and the BMGF do things differently, but who cares? The point to philanthropy is to give, not to compete with others who give. You have to wait until the very end of the article for them to point out that Google.org's shareholders, not founders, foot the bill for its charitable giving, whereas the Gates family has bankrolled its foundation with its own cash. Regardless of how they do it, the takeaway point for me, though, is that everyone wins
when there are more players, more ideas, and more innovation in the field of philanthropy. Pissing contests about whose endowment is biggger achieve no charitable purpose.
