the annoying thing about the following is that I was raised vegetarian and the only people who made me uncomfortable were the meat eating kids who made fun of me. perhaps tolerance needs to be taught in those homes rather than expecting that vegetarian kids eat highly processed fake meat options...

The experts she quotes strongly suggest that parents allow some leeway, such as “allowing kids to eat meat at friends’ houses or restaurants or packing snacks and lunches that look like chicken nuggets or hot dogs but are actually made from soy or wheat gluten.”

on the mayoral race in Seattle... this is truly the game changer:

Broadhead (winning candidate consultant): And this campaign was an eye-opener for me. If you gave me the choice, next cycle, of having the vote of the immigrant and refugee community in Seattle … and having, basically, the downtown checkbook, that would be a no-brainer for me. Quoted: FarmVille has quickly become the most popular application in the history of Facebook. More than 62 million people have signed up to play the game since it made its debut in June.
