DENVER - Could the Democrats be about to nominate the wrong Obama?
1 FaverShareQuoted: Barack Obama named Delaware Sen. Joe Biden as his vice presidential running mate early Saturday, balancing his ticket with a congressional veteran well-versed in foreign policy and defense issues.
i just don't understand how republicans sleep at night...
2 FaversShareViewed: 9 TimesQuoted: According to a new analysis by the Tax Policy Center, a joint project of the Urban Institute and the Brookings Institution, Democrat Barack Obama and Republican John McCain are both proposing tax plans that would result in cuts for most American families. Obama's plan gives the biggest cuts to those who make the least, while McCain would give the largest cuts to the very wealthy. For the approximately 147,000 families that make up the top 0.1 percent of the income scale, the difference between the two plans is stark. While McCain offers a $269,364 tax cut, Obama would raise their taxes, on average, by $701,885 - a difference of nearly $1 million.
Excellent article! Begins by examining the competing economic viewpoints in the Democratic Party- personified by Bob (Reich) and Bob (Rubin)- and goes on from there.

Quoted: "a country’s health can’t be measured simply by its economic output. That output, he said, “counts special locks for our doors and the jails for those who break them” but not “the health of our children, the quality of their education or the joy of their play.” .... The current concerns about the state of the planet, he said, required something of a paradigm shift for economics. If we don’t make serious changes soon, probably in the next 10 or 15 years, we may find that it’s too late.
I added Barack Obama to my Twitter follow list about 2 months ago, and it has been informative. He (i.e. his operative) posts no more than once a day -- succinctly stating where he his and what he's talking about.
2 FaversShareViewed: 2 TimesQuoted: While Rose likes to tell everyone what he’s drinking (nice unicorn background image, Kevin), Obama invites his followers to sign up so they can be the first to find out who his VP pick is going to be. How about Rose? He knows how to get the vote out and seems ready for a new gig.

Austan Goolsbee (what a cool name), is an Economics Professor at University of Chicago and Barack Obama's economic advisor. It is refreshing to have a presidential candidate who surrounds himself with SMART people, for a change.
Watch this interview and you'll have a lot more faith in the depth and quality of Obama's economic strategy, if you were skeptical before.

In theory, I feel like if you can get drafted to serve in your military, you should be able to buy a beer. But in practice, I'm not convinced that lowering the drinking age will do anything for binge drinking, and I agree with the writer that it could raise the number of drunk driving accidents...
1 FaverViewed: 1 TimeQuoted: Last week, a coalition of presidents from more than 100 colleges and universities called on authorities to consider lowering the legal drinking age.
