I downloaded this from Vongo last night and had intended to preview the first 10 minutes and catch the rest later. But, I was immediately drawn in.

Based on a true story, the movie does an exceptional job presenting the violence, sadness, terror, and utter hopelessness in a Brazilian shantytown. Nonetheless, the viewer does get a dose of inspiration and hope through Fernando -- the main character and narrator.

In my opinion, they are not gratuitous, because they help the directors to capture what may really happen in a Brazilian shantytown, and show it to us. Eric Larson is the drummer for this Seattle based quintet. He gave me a copy of his new CD a couple of weeks ago, and I've been listening to it almost continuously in the car. Many of their songs are from the Carlos Jobim catalog. Their vocalist, Marcia Tavora, has a great voice and sings in Portuguese - Love it!

I can't wait to see them live.

Sao Paulo state Supreme Court Justice Enio Santarelli Zuliani on Tuesday lifted an order that led to a ban of YouTube across much of the country because a sexy video of supermodel Daniela Cicarelli and her boyfriend kept circulating against the boyfriend's wishes. The widely viewed video shows Cicarelli and Brazilian banker Renato Malzoni in intimate scenes along a beach near the Spanish city of Cadiz.
