Diacetyl in butter, even reasonably high quality stuff. Crazy.

Quoted: A study commissioned for the P-I showed that levels of diacetyl released from many butter-substitute products may pose a significant risk to professional cooks who stand over hot grills for hours and use large amounts of the products.

Wow, finally some evidence that looks like plastics may be bad for our health.

I first saw an article in Experience Life magazine in 2005 on this: http://www.lifetimefitness.com/magazine/index.cfm?strWebAction=editors_letter&intNewMagEditionId=28
Needless to say I have switched to Stainless steel water bottles

More on this recent study, National Institutes of Health, press release: http://www.nih.gov/news/pr/jul2007/niehs-30.htm

Scary stuff ... I wonder if it's as dangerous for consumers of the stuff as it is for the workers.

At some point we realized that you can just put regular popcorn seeds in a lunch bag (about 1/2 cup) and put it in the microwave (fold the top over a couple of times). It works perfectly well, it's cheaper, it tastes better, and it looks like it might be safer.

Quoted: "It's not some carcinogen where you get cancer 30 years from now or something. The people are dying right in front of you," Michaels said. "You can't wait until you have all the evidence. You have to regulate it."
