Northshore Christian Church in Everett will be among those doing a pre-screening of this movie. The screening will be Sunday evening, June 8 at 6 pm, and include a discussion with the film's director and star, Dan Merchant. The church is at 5700 23rd Dr. West, Everett, WA 98203.

Quoted: Lord, Save Us From Your Followers is an alternately humorous and provocative documentary film about Christianity in America. This film stands at the intersection where culture and Christianity are colliding in a ten car pile-up.

Quoted: A three-foot-tall tablet with 87 lines of Hebrew that scholars believe dates from the decades just before the birth of Jesus is causing a quiet stir in biblical and archaeological circles, especially because it may speak of a messiah who will rise from the dead after three days.... the stone was part of a growing body of evidence suggesting that Jesus could be best understood through a close reading of the Jewish history of his day.

Oh my, this is great.

Quoted: Four Crises Facing Evolution. The second law of thermodynamics, fossil gaps, no known mechanism, and the age of the earth as four crises facing the theory of evolution.

A "Hermeneutics Quiz" to help us understand why we interpret some things the way we do.

I have numerous Christian friends who think I'm an apostate because I believe that that promise has transferred from the Jewish people to the new "children of Abraham," that is, any believer, Jew or Gentile. This will supposedly help me know why I believe the way I do and why they believe so strongly that I'm potentially hellbound, due to incorrect beliefs!

Hey kids! It's a hermeneutics quiz! Pretty fun, in that dorky Christian way... :-) A sort-of redot via Doug.

You'll be put into one of three general camps: conservative, moderate, or progressive. The author notes that this helps spark conversations and self-examination; it doesn't capture all the nuances of individual belief, obviously.

I'm (unsurprisingly) a progressive. This means, in part, that "[I tend] to see the Bible as historically shaped and culturally conditioned, and yet [I] still consider it the Word of God for today," according to the author. Pretty spot on, actually.

Christian Apologetics & Research Ministry

Useful website for research and questions. Jane found it looking for information on the "lost books of the Bible" which were never lost; most of them that are popular now were rejected for centuries as gnostic or heretical.
