Anyone want to go hear some 1920s-1930s vintage jazz and pop? My officemate's wife plays double bass in this band. I like their sound! They have 3 shows this month and one in late December.

click to playPart 2 Of my review of the Fall Out Boy/Plain White T's/Gym Class Heroes concert from last night.
Seriously? A Fall Out Boy song about getting some? High comedy. As for their set they opened with "Sugar We're Going Down", the big hit from their first album. Then they played about 53 minutes of nothing I had ever heard of before including some bizarre between-song jabs at Kanye West. That was followed by the F Word guitarist declaring "this next song is probably the greatest song every written about jealousy" at which point they covered The Killers' "Mr. Brightside".
They finished with "This Ain't A Scene (It's A God Damn Arms Race)" (wtf does that even mean?) and "Thanks For The Memories" two of the other three songs I knew they sang, but they never played "Dance, Dance" so I felt there was something left to be desired. If you want to see a microcosm of their entire live act, check out the video for Thanks For The Memories. Than spin move is the only thing any of them know how to do.
As for the audience, I was definitely at the older end of the spectrum, especially when you throw out all the parents chaperoning groups of 14 year old girls. Predictably the crowd was very "West Side", if you're from Grand Rapids and know what I mean.
It wasn't a bad time though. There was some great people watching and it was only $5.50 for a 20oz beer.
