Located at Whalers Village on famous Kaanapali Beach, Hula Gril Kaanapalil features award-winning oceanfront dining at its best.

Reminiscent of a 1930s Hawaiian beach house, Hula Grill Kaanapali features a nostalgic setting characteristic of the style conceived by renowned island architect C.W. Dickey. Its beachfront location combined with its warm koa wood walls, collection of hula girl figurines, antique koa canoes and Hawaiian memorabilia evoke memories of a more romantic Hawaii.

Adding to the feeling of an old Hawaiian home is Hula Grill Kaanapali's own private beach, the Barefoot Bar, where diners sit with their toes in the sand at tables placed beneath palm-thatched umbrellas.

We saw a flock of these "crater birds" flying above the Fern Grotto on Kauai. They are striking because of their very long slender tail feathers, their pure-white coloring, and their swooping/gliding flight. They also were making staccato chirping sounds.

We stayed in our friend Barbie's beach-front condo in March - and had a great time - highly recommended if you're heading to Hawaii - especially if you are traveling with a family or two couples.

The best, and amazing, Kauai guide book. The latest edition has wonderfully detailed descriptions of hikes and "adventures". GPS coordinates given on many maps. Why can't all guide books be this good?

This home in Kihei Maui is amazing. Aside from the views of the Pacific Ocean and neighboring islands it has a 5 car garage, 3 bedrooms, 3 baths and a pool I'd swim in every day if I could.
