Cool! Especially given that the regular firmware for the linksys router is not so hot. I'm using an older version, as it is generally more stable (newest versions crash at my house every day) - the older version seems to crash the DHCP server once per month and requires a reboot.
Quoted: Of all the great DIY projects at this year's Maker Faire, the one project that really caught my eye involved converting a regular old $60 router into a powerful, highly configurable $600 router.

I recently realized by Internet problems were actually due to slow throughput of my Belkin router.
This Linksys router is rated highly on Amazon and Newegg and is apparently more stable than the regular VxWorks-based WRT54G.
1 FaverShareViewed: 10 TimesQuoted: Linksys last month switched the standard model of its ubiquitous WRT54G wireless router from Linux to VxWorks, starting with the "series 5" version. Now, Linksys is shipping a Linux-based WRT54GL model that it says it created specially for Linux hobbyists, hackers, and aficionados. The L version is identical to the "series 4" WRT54G units that Linux hobbyists have long enjoyed hacking, according to the company.

We' using this ADSL/2 router as a stop-gap until Seakeasy replaces our ADSL/2 modem. Problem is I can't figure out how to route static IP's through this router - it normally acts as a Firewall with NAT. But even turning off NAT I don't know how to create the needed routing table entries.

Very cool example of a use of the open-source firmware for Canon cameras - this timelapse shows the moon setting at sunrise.
1 FaverViewed: 14 TimesQuoted: With the help of the non-destructive, aftermarket firmware, CHDK, installed on my camera, I set the tripod up, and set the camera to fire off as many frames as it could, until it filled the SD card memory. I did not know where the moon would eventually set, nor did I know if the sun would rise too soon, and thus wash everything out, as I could not reset the shutter speed, nor change any other settings once I set the program in motion. It was pure, once in a 'blue moon' kind of luck. ISO 50, shutter speed 1/60th of a second, +2 EV bias, and other info can be seen in the two stills, from this video, that I uploaded previously.
