Tilting at corporate windmills.

Quoted: Øη (Null Eta) is my visionary strategic business strategy framework strategy, based on instantly achieving zero efficiency using only cool greek letters, secret naps, and the occasional off-site retreat on the Las Vegas strip.

This looks like a very nice web-based PM solution. I'm wondering why I've never seen a web-based product management solution - something that focuses on prioritization, scheduling, external commitments,, goal-setting, etc.

Quoted: Web-based project and task manager for your team. The powerful features are accessed through a smart customizable interface. Everything is within a click or two. Get more done by 5pm!

This document describes how to set up Hyperic HQ on Ubuntu 7.04. The resulting system provides an awesome, web-based "Systems-Management-Software". It is the next stage of classical monitoring and able to manage all kinds of operating systems, web servers, application servers and database servers.

Latest blog post.

Quoted: If you are a Product Manager and/or a startup founder, you undoubtedly have solid instincts about your target market. But, if you are like myself, you have probably experienced times where it is unclear exactly what to do next. To that end, I have found the following resources helpful over the years:

Quoted: If your team is struggling with customer feedback, you may find this mantra helpful. Seek out a synthesis that incorporates both the feedback you are hearing plus your own vision. Any path that leaves out one aspect or the other is probably wrong.

Love the new RescueTime features - especially think the new scoring system is more intuitive (and less "magic").

Recommended by Andrew Chen ( http://andrewchenblog.com/ ), a blogger who I respect quite a bit.

Looks like this book has a greater focus on case studies and specific techniques as compared to Scott Berkun's book, "Making Things Happen".

Quoted: The Product Manager's Handbook is the essential guide to successful product management in today's fast-changing business world. Product and brand managers, as well as upper-level sales, marketing, and branding executives, will find the text thorough and informative as it explains and analyzes the product manager's role in both traditional, hierarchical organizations as well as in newer horizontal, team-driven decision-making structures.

Quoted: Why does a company full of smart people make stupid decisions? How do we keep it from happening?

So perhaps the answer is to keep things small; keep the units of your business broken up into teams where everyone gets along and moves forward together, and evaluate the health of the business based on the health of those individual teams.
