I needed to replace my Belkin KVM - since the sucky video cables were ruining my contrast. I picked up this 2-port KVM for $53 at Best Buy.

It's working well now - but there is a very confusing feature that hung me up for quite some time. Note there are two USB connections on the KVM - I assumed there was just an internal hub in here, and that keyboard and mouse could be plugged into either one. NOT SO. You need to plug the keyboard in the right side, and the mouse on the left - otherwise it does not recognize the hotkey commands (Scroll Lock, Scroll Lock) to switch between the two computers.

I was hoping to run one cable to the USB hub in my monitor, and then plug both keyboard and mouse into that. This won't work as mouse and keyboard need to be split between the two ports!

Fortunately, my cable lengths work fine plugging directly into the KVM - but I won't be able to plug other USB peripherals into the KVM and have them shared between my two computers.

The Mobile Memory Mouse 8000 works with a Mac right out of the box — in fact, it was easier to set up on a Macbook than on a Vista machine. And it bundles 1GB of memory with the transceiver, which plugs into the USB. That might be a nice add-on for some, but to me it doesn’t make much sense. I mean, who carries their mouse without a laptop?
