Quoted: Best-selling industrial rock band Nine Inch Nails' latest album, Year Zero, delves into new ground. For the first time, the group's front man and primary writer, Trent Reznor, focuses mainly on politics. He seems to be jumping headfirst into a game of politics with the resistance party.

Wow, this is very cool. Apparently it goes back to black when it cools off. Take that, music pirates!

Quoted: The CD is thermally reactive. It turns white when it comes in contact with a heat source.

Quoted: The Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA), which has become notorious for suing anyone from high school students to retirees for downloading music from the web, has gone after web sites such as Idolator that have posted leaked songs from the upcoming NINE INCH NAILS album, "Year Zero". The problem, however, is that the tracks were leaked intentionally.

I just pre-ordered this CD (along with their live dvd Beside You in Time) for the simple fact that they are giving away the tracks for free. You should too, as it will encourage the industry to think of the music it creates as art, and not a commodity. The record companies are placing trust in the consumer that we will not take advantage of the fact that we dont have to pay. If you value freedom of information, show them appreciation for putting trust in us.

Oh, and the music is really good too. It is set about 15 years in the future, in the police state which our country is slowly and steady becoming. It is apocolyptic and pessimistic, yet with the empowering tones of a revolution song. I see the album as less of a criticism of the country and more of a cautionary dream of what might soon come. And the overprocessed distortion and electronic effects typical of NIN are here in full force.

My dot to listen to the complete album:

This is pretty awesome. Nine Inch Nails is releasing the multi-track GarageBand files for all of the music on their latest album so that fans can see how it's done and remix until their heart's content. So far, the song "Survivalism" is the only one available. I'm gonna check it out on GarageBand.
