I checked Slate for the first time in years today and was delighted to find photos of the Danube, allowing me to continue my nostalgic Budapest dotting.

Quick reminder: If you're ever in a hotel lobby and they start to play 'The Blue Danube Waltz,' get the hell out...that waltz means that they need to evacuate the building

Truly Outrageous! This was mine and my sister's favorite episode of "JEM" back in the 80's! A 2-parter in which Jem organizes an all-star concert called "The Jem Jam." It features cartoon doppelgangers of Bruce Springsteen, Mick Jagger, Stevie Wonder, Madonna, and Tina Turner--who is actually named "Lena Lurner" in the episode, I kid you not. And most importantly, it has the song "Jam (All Night Long)," which is still sung around the Hansen household from time to time. Yeah, we're pretty cheesy.
I hope there's a lot more where this came from (on You Tube)!

This was by far one of my most favorite cartoons from when I was growing up.

It contained a bunch of different characters from Nintendo games, and I just remember always thinking it was so cool that this normal kid got be in this video game world.

Nostalgia at its best.

Quoted: The Nostalgia player is a slick desktop client for the popular photo-sharing site Flickr. It requires Microsoft's .Net 3.0 framework (a free download for XP users, it's built into Vista). Though Flickr is a decent Web 2.0 app, Flickr plus Nostalgia is in a different league. The application supports the quirks of Flickr--tagging, sets, and so on--and it does it in a fluid interface not unlike Google's Picasa, although it's not nearly as full featured. Nostalgia is better, even, than Yahoo Photos .

If you're a Flickr fan and you use a PC, it's worth trying out, if only to see the direction that Web 2.0 sites are heading in.

Pure insanity -- if you haven't yet seen this Microsoft video, with some 80s style Windows/386 rapping, it's ... well, eat lunch at your desk today. Don't deprive yourself of this 12 minute gem.

The post I'm linking to has some background info on the video.

Quoted: So apparently there's something going on today in New York City (I don't know what it is, since I'm not invited :)). However, a couple of weeks ago, someone dug up a piece of Microsoft nostalgia and posted it on Google Videos. I saw the first couple of
