Quoted: The fact is that the Mediterranean diet, which has been associated with longer life spans and lower rates of heart disease and cancer, is in retreat in its home region. Today it is more likely to be found in the upscale restaurants of London and New York than among the young generation in places like Greece, where two-thirds of children are now overweight and the health effects are mounting, health officials say.

Quoted: UW researchers have found that the strongest predictor of obesity rates in King County ZIP codes isn't income or education, but property values. It's further evidence that obesity isn't just about individual willpower.

Isn't that what's supposed to happen with "a diet and exercise plan" anyway? Oh, and you get "occasional loss of bowel control" too...

Never ask a woman her age and her *weight*...or should you?

Quoted: Quoted: The implications were clear. There is a reason that fat people cannot stay thin after they diet and that thin people cannot stay fat when they force themselves to gain weight. The body’s metabolism speeds up or slows down to keep weight within a narrow range.
