I've used LiveCDs in the past for checking out new operating systems or applications. They are a very handy way to do this without having to trash a computer... Then VMWare came along.

YouTube went down tonight. Handled much better than FlickR did 2 days ago. YouTube had a warning on the top of every page saying it was coming. There's a little humor in it - but seems less condescending than the FlickR downtime message.
