Not that I consider myself any sort of expert in sustainability, but I do understand the magic of compounding interest. Applied to population growth, where we're going is horrendously frightening and I wish more people would talk about it.

Quoted: According to Andrew Chung of the Star, Alan Wiesman of The World without us says we have to "limit every human female on Earth capable of bearing children to one." "I'm not trying to be sensationalistic or controversial," he says in an interview. "I'm trying to get us to think very hard about what the whole situation is." If we don't control ourselves, nature will do it for us. Every species that eats itself out of house and home experiences a population crash."

Quoted: There is a clear connection between population growth and virtually every challenge facing our planet. As the leading grassroots population organization, ZPG has been the “population connection” for 34 years. By changing our name to Population Connection, we hope to rally even more support for the kind of education and action that can - and must - change the world.

Interesting...

Quoted: What I find interesting about these comments is the tendency to justify Seattle home prices by comparing Seattle to large, major cities. Is this a valid comparison? Is Seattle really a major city like LA or NYC?
...
To answer that question, I made a list of a handful of major world cities and a number of large-ish US cities. Here are the population, land area, and population densities of each:
