June 30, 1996 article in NYT magazine explaining why most recycling programs are actually causing MORE harm to the environment (use of resources) than just throwing stuff away.

(This is just a copy - but posted on the original NYT site - of the earlier dot from Chris "X").

Interesting idea. I wonder if it really involves less processing than just recycling the bottles.

Quoted: We sell brand new liquid soap packaged in old plastic soda bottles, plastic water bottles and glass beer bottles to help clean up our environment.
Each bottle is cleaned, sanitized and processed for reuse as packaging for your favorite brand of liquid soap. Big companies aren’t going to do this on their own. So, we’ll do it for them. We buy name brand liquid soap by the barrel and package it in old bottles here in America.

Lame - Rabanco's web site asks you to use the PHONE to get the collection day schedule. Why don't they just put this on their F***ing web site?

Very cool.

Quoted: Free Electronics Recycling Begins January 1, 2009
There are many electronics recyclers in Washington that provide environmentally sound recycling services. However, these recyclers may charge a fee at this time to accept items for recycling. Call 1-800-RECYCLE or visit 1800recycle.wa.gov to find electronic product recycling services in your area. See the E-Cycle Washington Focus Sheet for more information.

More eco friendly than other travel mugs? Or just more likely to break?
