Bill retired from Microsoft today. Nice video here looking back on his life from childhood to today.

Quoted: Watch videos that look back to the story of Bill Gates from his early years, to founding Microsoft and what lies ahead for him and the company he started.

Website about a couple that saved everything and retired early to travel the world.

Some tips and stories on the site, but seems like you've got to get the book to get the whole story.

Quoted: The Kaderlis can count themselves as members of a small group of founders of the extreme early retirement trend among baby boomers. Now in their 17th year of retirement, the couple ditched their 9-to-5 jobs when they were 38 years old.

Who says Nintendo just serves the younger demographic?

Quoted: In 2007, UVM graduate Ethan Bechtel came across an article describing the positive affects of the Nintendo Wii with the elder population. After witnessing his own grandfather live at a nursing home, Ethan decided to contact his younger brother Nate, and the two developed WiiSeniors to create a fun environment at these homes.

Article by WSJ writer Jonathon Clements about some conventional wisdom for 20 and 30 somethings that may not be so wise.

In short, his points are:
1) Amassing 6 months+ of cash for living expense reserves is a poor usage of cash. Instead, put that into an IRA or as a down payment for a house and then pull out money in a financial emergency using a HELOC

2) Don't buy a house that is too expensive and exceeds your affordability limit

3) LIfe insurance probably isn't a necessary or wise investment - unless you have family members to take care of

4) Diversify stock investments with value and growth stocks

Simple points, but I do see a lot of 20/30 somethings who do exactly what this author says not to.

This is encouraging - makes me feel like there's hope for amassing the billions I'll need to retire...and take over the world!

Quoted: If you're a newly minted college graduate, the $1 million-plus needed for retirement might seem impossibly large. Feeling discouraged? Try lowering your sights, aiming instead to accumulate savings equal to two times your annual income. It can take people 12 to 15 years," Mr. Farrell says. "The earlier you can start, the better. But if you're close to two times pay by your early 40s, you're probably in pretty good shape.
