Long, but interesting potential documentary about things that didn't make sense about 9/11. While this is heavily sensationalized, there are some interesting points made about this whole thing that I hadn't heard before...

So they killed at least two people because the film equated Islam with violence. How do they not get it?

Quoted: A few days after the anti-Islam film “Fitna” was released on the Internet, the Afghan Taliban claim to have attacked Dutch forces in Afghanistan on Sunday. ...The Taliban have declared on the Internet that they launched the two fatal attacks against Dutch soldiers as a response to Geert Wilders' short film that, they say, insulted Islam.

Islam critic Geert Wilders launched his short video on the Internet on Thursday evening. Titled "Fitna", an Arabic term sometimes translated as "strife", it intersperses images of the Sept. 11, 2001 attacks on the United States and Islamist bombings with quotations from the Koran, Islam's holy book.

I Faved this yesterday on LiveLEak.com, but they've taken it down because of threats. Here it is on YouTube -- but because opf the nature of the film, you may have to register with YouTube to view it.

It's worth seeing.

Quoted: Many of the men involved in the Madrid train bombings came from one small neighborhood in the Moroccan city of Tetouan. A number of would-be suicide bombers in Iraq are from there, too. What is it about the place?

A long article for later.

This looks like it's going to be powerful.

Quoted: A history of world terrorist movement as told through the story of the enigmatic figure Jacques Verges. Communist, anti-colonialist, right-wing extremist? What convictions guide the moral mind of Jacques Vergès? Barbet Schroeder takes us down history’s darkest paths in his attempt to illuminate the mystery behind this enigmatic figure. As a young lawyer during the Algerian war, Vergès espoused the anti- colonialist cause and defended Djamila Bouhired, ‘la Pasionaria,’ who bore her country’s hopes for freedom on her shoulders and was sentenced to death for planting bombs in cafes. He obtained her release, married her and had two children with her. Then suddenly, at the height of an illustrious career, Vergès disappeared without trace for eight years. He re-emerged from his mysterious absence, taking on the defense of terrorists of all kinds, from Magdalena Kopp and Anis Naccache to Carlos the Jackal. He represented historical monsters such as Nazi lieutenant Klaus Barbie. From the lawyer’s inflammatory and provocative cases to his controversial terrorist links, Barbet Schroeder follows the winding trail left by this ‘devil’s advocate,’ as he forges his unique path in law and politics. Schroeder explores and questions the history of ‘blind terrorism’ through his penetrating investigation of this compelling man and leads us towards shocking revelations that expose long-hidden links in history.
