In a game between Texas A&M and TCU, Aggies’ catcher Michael Barash got the scare of a lifetime when he took a screaming foul tip to his mask and it exploded. I mean, blew up.
The slow-motion replay is something out of a Steven Spielberg war flick, as parts of the mask splintered off in different directions when the ball made contact—kinda like a bullet might shatter a soldier’s helmet.
Goes to show how dangerous playing catcher can be once pitchers start throwing 90-plus mph heaters. Even with all that equipment on.
