A sick father from St. Anthony, Idaho brought his 14-year-old daughter to Missouri to marry a 24-year-old man.
In August 2015, Kevin Strawn took his daughter to her rapist, Aaron Seaton, to get married.
According to KDVR, Strawn was sentenced to four months in prison.
“While you spend those 120 day in jail, perhaps you will think about the 120 days your daughter was in a vile farce of a marriage to a rapist,” District Judge Greg Moeller said during Tuesday’s court hearing, according to KDVR.
“If you get them pregnant then you marry them,” Strawn told Judge Moeller during the court hearing.
Seaton, who is now 25 years old, pleaded guilty to a rape charge in April and is serving a 15-year prison sentence.
Douglas Knutson, Strawn’s lawyer suggested a six day jail sentence and said the marriage “might have been a religious motivation.”
According to KDVR, Knustson said, “(The victim) told me herself that her father asked her several times during the trip to Missouri, and even the day of the marriage, if it was something she wanted to do.”
“I love my daughter very much and I would never do anything to intentionally harm her or put her in harm’s way,” Strawn said. “I made the wrong decision, and I made that decision in duress.”
Strawn had first been charged with two felony injury to a child charges and one felony charge of accessory rape. However, pleaded guilty to one felony to a child charge, as part of a plea bargain.
