This is now being called an ambush.

Three Baton Rogue police officers were gunned down when they responded to a 9-11 call about a suspicious person walking down a street with an “assault rifle” according to a report on CNN. When the officers responded, they were ambused, possibly by multiple people. At least three other officers were also shot, and one is in critical condition.

One of the suspects is dead, and police are searching for other suspects. The suspects wore black, according to news reports..

News reports also note of a horrifying plot that police broke up within recent days.

The shooting comes roughly two weeks after the death of Alton Sterling, who was killed in Baton Rogue by police, and about 10 days after a lone gunman shot and killed five officers during a protest in Dallas.

Louisiana Gov. John Bel Edwards called the shooting, “an unspeakable and unjustified attack.”
