Instead of being able to celebrate¬†Father’s Day as planned, “Fixer Upper” couple Chip and Joanna Gaines had a bit of a scare on their Magnolia Homes property in Waco, Texas, when employees discovered that the family’s goats had been senselessly shot and killed.

Police are still working to track down the person or people responsible.

What we know so far is that perpetrator(s) of the senseless act entered the Gaines property on Friday. A motive is not yet known.

Police have called the killing a “senseless act.”

Through a public relations representative, the Gaines family has offered a message of thanks to their fans for support during this unsettling time.

Friday evening an unidentified person(s) trespassed onto our Magnolia grounds and killed two goats. We are working closely with Waco Police Department to bring this person to justice. We’re saddened and shocked by this senseless crime, and at the same time, so grateful for the outreach and support from our community.

This comes after Chip Gaines’ initial reaction to the situation on Twitter.

18 weeks ago, the Gaines family welcomed the goats to the farm in an Instagram post and wished everyone a Happy Valentine’s Day.

Welcome to the farm, Love bugs.. #HappyValentinesDay
