You may remember “Hacksaw” Jim Duggan as the guy who carried around a 2×4 and started “USA!” chants in the ring. But in 1988, Duggan made history when he eliminated One Man Gang and won the first ever Royal Rumble.

With only 20 competitors instead of the usual 30, it wasn’t known as one of the more classic Royal Rumbles matches, but as the inaugural Rumble, it set the stage for Rumbles to come and also was an important accomplishment in Duggan’s career.

Since then, Duggan has made several other Rumble appearances, though he hasn’t had quite the same luck as that first time around.
