After hearing that 49 innocent victims were slain during the massive massacre at Pulse nightclub in Orlando, Florida, Greg Zanis was determined to make a difference.

His goal was to prove that love still exists in the world and in his home country, the United States of America.

Zanis built 49 white crosses for each victim and drove 1,200 miles from Illinois to Orlando for a proper public memorial.

“My message today is love your brother. Love your neighbor,” he said.

A red heart was attached to each cross and Zanis brought Sharpie’s along for the ride to write the victim’s names and a special message from those who passed by.

His random act of kindness instantly began trending on social media, proving that his message didn’t only apply on that day but the days to come.
