With all of the commotion circling as to whether Conor McGregor and Floyd Mayweather will ever fight each other in a boxing match, it’s nice to hear some other news about the UFC champ (that is unless the fight is actually going to happen). According to The Sun, it appears that the 28-year-old mixed martial artist is in talks with some folks in Hollywood about starring in an upcoming big action role.
“Conor really wants to start doing movies. He’s doing everything in his power to break into Hollywood,” an alleged insider said.
“There has been a good deal of interest in him already and he thinks the time is right to start branching out. There’s been talk of a part in a big action movie and he’s held a number of meetings with producers, so it looks like there’s something in the pipeline. Conor would be a natural fit for a big Hollywood blockbuster.”
McGregor, who is also featured in the latest “Call of Duty” installment and who will star in “Games of Thrones” next year, was set to star alongside Vin Diesel in the recently released xXx: The Return of Xander Cage, but after his loss to Nate Diaz last year, he abruptly backed out of the project. Director DJ Caurso said McGregor decided not to appear in the film after his shocking defeat to Diaz.
“I wasn’t disappointed by it, I was pissed because Conor had said he was gonna do the movie,” Caruso said. “He got his ass kicked by Nate Diaz and then after that he sort of backed out.”
Seeing McGregor on the big screen would be cool and all, but we’d much rather watch him beating people to a pulp. We hope they can make this Mayweather fight happen.
