It looks like Justin Timberlake didn’t have a great night.

The popstar took to Twitter late Sunday and tweeted about a speech “Grey’s Anatomy” star Jesse Williams delivered.

“@iJesseWilliams tho… #Inspired #BET2016,” he wrote.

Almost as soon as he sent the tweet out, fans and critics accused him of cultural appropriation and allowing Janet Jackson to take the blame for the Super Bowl “wardrobe malfunction.”

Timberlake only made things worse when he tweeted a snide response to reporter Ernest Jones.

“Oh, you sweet soul. The more you realize that we are the same, the more we can have a conversation,” Timberlake wrote.

He quickly started to backtrack almost as soon as he tweeted to Jones.

“I feel misunderstood. I responded to a specific tweet that wasn’t meant to be a general response. I shouldn’t have responded anyway…” he started.

He might want to lay low for a while.
