When First Lady, Michelle Obama, shows up at your school or even your backyard, there’s only one thing you can do: scream.
The First Lady’s “Let’s Move!” organization encourages youths to live a healthy lifestyle. In an effort to fight obesity in the next generation, “Let’s Move!” targets good eating and exercise.
Both Watkins and John Burroughs Elementary Schools in Washington, D.C. are creating unified classroom gardens, where the children are able to learn about soil, growing food and also cooking.
The First Lady joined the students in preparing for their spring gardens by planting cabbage seeds to start growing indoors, separating worms from the compost and making a unique tortilla.
For her last stop, she visited Eriks Brolis and Linda Bilsens. Eriks and Linda began utilizing their garden in 2013 to live a nutritious lifestyle. The garden occupies the entire backyard, and the couple invites their family to help maintain it.
