The wife of a Tennessee high school football coach has a new court date to answer to chargers that she slept with one of her husband’s under-aged players.
Kelsey McCarter stands accused of carrying on a year-long sexual relationship with a sophomore student at South-Doyle High School, according to a seven-count indictment handed down by a grand jury.
McCarter, 26, has been charged with six counts of statutory rape by an authority figure and one count of exploitation of a minor by electronic means. She was supposed to enter a plea in September 23, but reports say plea negotiations hit a wall, and now she’s scheduled back in court in April.
McCarter is married to Justin McCarter, who served as assistant football coach for South-Doyle before his resignation in February — two months after the alleged relationship between his wife and the student were discovered.
The student reportedly lived with the McCarters when the alleged abuse started, according to WVLT.TV
The television station reported that McCarter’s husband, Justin, extended an invitation to the alleged victim and his older brother to live at McCarter home after the boys began exhibiting behavioral problems, according to the boys’ mother. The boys are now back with their mother.
Justin McCarter was an instructional aide and assistant football coach at a Knoxville high school but resigned in February,
