Back in 2010, Kentucky Fried Chicken pretty much revolutionized the fast food game (and immediately clogged thousands of arteries everywhere) with the invention of the Double Down, a sandwich that replaced boring old buns with two crispy chicken filets.
Now, Taco Bell is following in its sister chain’s footsteps by announcing the release of the Naked Chicken Chalupa. What is the Naked Chicken Chalupa, you ask? Well, it happens to be fried chicken molded into the shape of a taco shell, which is then stuffed with cheddar cheese, diced tomatoes, lettuce and creamy avocado ranch. Hell yes!
“Something this delicious yet different is bound to ruffle some feathers; some might even cluck their tongues at it,” chief marketing officer at Taco Bell Corp Marisa Thalberg said in fantastically punny press release intro. “However, we feel confident that once our fans get a taste of the Naked Chicken Chalupa they are going to understand exactly why this is our next big, fun and craveable innovation, following in the footsteps of the Doritos Locos Tacos five years ago and the Quesalupa just last year.”
The Naked Chicken Chalupa is set for a January 26 launch. You will be able to get just the chalupa for $2.99 or in a combo box with a Doritos Locos Taco, crunchy taco and medium drink for $5.
