The United States Army and their longtime love affair with the Beretta M9 9mm has come to an end, but have no fear, the Sig Sauer P320 is here. Sig Sauer just landed a pretty epic contract with the U.S. Army to use its P320 as the official issued sidearm for the next 10 years. The deal has an estimated value of $580 million.
The Army felt it was due to upgrade its sidearm from the 1980s and, after a search that began in 2015, the P320 emerged as the winner. According to Maxim, the search didn’t fare too well for Glock, which submitted its 17 and 19 models. Tough luck for them, but congrats to Sig Sauer for getting this fine piece of machinery into the hands of our troops.
