Christina Grimmie has been laid to rest in her home town.
Her family held a private funeral on Friday and live-streamed her memorial service for fans to mourn the “The Voice” singer.
“I don’t like being in front of crowds, but this crowd has blessed me beyond words,” her father, Bud Grimmie said. “I want to share what I’ve shared with several people here and that’s there’s this gigantic hole in my heart that I know is never going to go away.”
Last week, Grimmie was killed after a concert in Orlando, FL when a man approached her as she signed autographs and shot her. Her older brother, Marcus tackled the shooter and the man later turned the gun on himself.
Grimmie’s mother brought everyone to tears when she thanked Marcus for everything he has done for the family over the last week.
“And, Marcus, I want to say this publicly in front of Jesus and everybody,” she said. “I want all of you to know that he has been so good to his mama. He has loved me and he has stood by my side.”
Marcus — who tackled the gunman who killed his sister — had little to say.
“I don’t have anything to say, I don’t have words still and it’s a good and bad thing,” he said. “All I’m going to say is thank God for the mark that she left on this world. Thanks mom and dad I know it’s going to be really tough for us to move forward.”
