Two people were arrested in Oklahoma after police received an emergency call from an urgent care doctors and nurses reporting they had discovered the “worst case of child abuse” they’d ever seen, according to multiple reports.
Kevin Fowler, 25, and Aislyn Miller, 24, face child abuse charges after they brought their twins to an urgent care and the babies were found to be suffering from bed sores and severe diaper rash, and appeared to be malnourished and looked like skeletons, Tulsa World reported.
According to the same report, a nurse told the Owasso police, through tears, that a maggot crawled out of one baby’s genitals and another nurse said she found feces in the baby’s ear.
The mother, according to the Tulsa World report, said she knew there were problems with the infants’ conditions, but told police she and Fowler were “new parents,” and didn’t have any experience caring for babies.
Miller also told authorities that the infants were born premature, something she said explained their condition, and that they didn’t have health insurance or know how to get it.
Both were jailed and held on $100,000 bond, according to the newspaper.
