Someone spotted a blue car floating just below a lake’s surface in St. Clair Shores, Mich., Wednesday afternoon and reported it to the police.
Emergency responders and a tow truck arrived, and the car was successfully pulled from the water just before 6 p.m., Fox2Detroit reported.
What they found inside was heartbreaking.
According to WWJ, a 22-year-old woman was found dead in the car and had been dead for two to three days.
While the woman hasn’t been officially identified, the deceased’s mother posted Acadia Cadotte’s picture on Facebook with a saddening message.
Lisa Cadotte wrote:
Today I was notified by the St. Clair Shores Police that my beautiful daughter Acadia had passed away. She’d been missing since last Thursday and her car slid into the canal at 9 and Jefferson that day where she has been since today when her car was visible in the water. We had been searching for her since last Friday with no luck.
Rest in peace my precious angel. I will love your for eternity.
Please pray for me and my family.
It’s not clear how or why the car ended up in the lake, but the case is currently being investigated as a possible suicide.
A coroner is still working to determine the cause of death.
