Jimmy “Superfly” Snuka left a last a lasting impact on professional wrestling and influenced an entire generation of wrestlers with his Superfly Splash, a move that made top-rope, high-flying maneuvers a mainstay in the sport.
Following the news that Snuka had passed away on Sunday at the age of 73 from complications with stomach cancer, his influence was certainly felt as members of the wrestling world took to Twitter to pay tribute to the Hall of Famer.
Back in August 2015, Snuka’s wife, Carol, broke the news that her husband had been diagnosed with stomach cancer, and shortly thereafter, while he was on trial for the 1983 murder of his former girlfriend Nancy Argentino, his lawyer announced that he had been suffering from dementia as a result of sustained brain trauma.
Snuka died only a fews days after being acquitted for that murder in a hospice care facility in Pompano Beach, Florida.
