paper folding
Very cool math/science project - breaking the myth about not being able to fold a "piece of paper" more than 7 times. She made 12.
The MythBusters recreated this - except with a square piece of paper folder in both directions (eventually using a fork lift to heave the paper over - they made it to 11 folds).

The MythBusters one was pretty cool. The paper was so heavy at the end that they needed a forklift to finish off the last folds.
ARRRGH. "It's impossible to fold a sheet of paper more than seven times." It's a fun trick. Try it with a piece of typing paper: it's impossible. SO WHAT. At this point, I want to see the Mythbusters prove you shouldn't spit into the wind (assuming they can't find Superman, to facilitate testing whether you shouldn't pull on his cape).
"Stringent rules and definitions were defined by Britney for the folding process. One rule is: For a sheet to be considered folded n times it must be convincingly documented and independently verified that (2n) unique layers are in a straight line."
