What a great idea. Read books on the cheap. That said, if you really like a book, you should buy it and support your favorite authors! Otherwise, people will start writing good books you'd want to mooch.

A community for exchanging used books. Book exchange is free, only cost of postage. Type in the books you want to give away, receive requests, mail book and receive points, use points to ask for books from others.

I wish I could swap some of my physical books for Kindle editions.
I've thought about it a bunch -- I really like the idea that I can carry hundreds of books with me in such a compact fashion and I really like the quick availability, but I can't get over how much I would miss the physical nature of reading a book. My hand has learned just the right way to hold a book so it doesn't close, I can turn pages one-handed, etc. Not to say I can't on a digital book, but the differences in weight and size would throw me off. I'm trying to get over it, as having an e-book reader would be amazing. But...not ready for it yet.
