They do this every year.
Here's one link, on audio, as Capt Kirk might say

fooled me too.Nice. ;-)
Quoted: "This feature allows people to manipulate and mislead people with falsified time data. Time is a sacred truth that should never be tampered with."

I wish this wasn't a prank.
Quoted: Just click "Set custom time" from the Compose view. Any email you send to the past appears in the proper chronological order in your recipient's inbox. You can opt for it to show up read or unread by selecting the appropriate option.

I saw that today and didn't click on it. But it never even occurred to me that it might be a prank. it just sounded like an uninteresting feature.
I like how YouTube used every link in their "featured video" section to Rickroll visitors.

my good homepage said it was -7 degrees last night when it was actually in the 40s. maybe it was an early april fools prank by those google tricksters. (probably not.)

I liked their formula the best!
How come I only get ten?Our researchers have concluded that allowing each person more than ten pre-dated emails per year would cause people to lose faith in the accuracy of time, thus rendering the feature useless.
((N x P) - square root of theta) / L = 10
Their findings:
N = Total emails sent
P = Probability that user believes the time stamp
φ = The Golden Ratio
L = Average life expectancy - drew_s - Apr 03 2008
: )
I thought about putting that in the quoted section. I, for one, would use my ten responsibly so as not to cause others to lose faith in time.
