india sounds fun. redotted from mohit.

  • Just read about Kingfisher Airlines. Kingfisher is (the leading?) beer company in India, so I suppose it makes sense they operator an airline, too.

Anyways, according to the Economist, the differentiator with Kingfisher Airlines is an "all-female crew wearing distinctive tight-fitting red skirts".

well they're definitely hot, gotta give em that! here's a VERY random thought...if we had women soldiers dressed like this, you think we'd still have wars to fight? also, is the image server doing better now? cause the thumbnail images from my dots, when i got to "My Dots" is still not showing for the most part...is it my Safari you think?

it's recovering in alphabetical order. the recovery is currently processing logins that start with n...it should get to t (in tigerexotique) sometime in the middle of the night.

i see...wow that seems really complicated! thanks for letting me know :)

      hahaha nice dot mohit.

Singapore Airlines used to be known for this as well (maybe they still are but I didn't witness it). I found Jet Airways of India to also have an amazingly consistent flight attendant profile.

This was a funny comment on the blog post: "I want Job kingfisher airlines please select me a job I waiting for your reply.cell:09848037297"

I don't totally agree with the Economist. I flew Kingfisher airlines last summer and not only were the air hostesses cute, but they're really giving Jet Airways a run for their money in terms of food/service! Also, I'm not sure if the Economist realizes that most air hostesses (they're not "flight attendants") in India are still young, pretty, and glamorous, because no one's sued for discrimination.

    • mohit - Sep 13 2007

nice, i'm now getting a kingfisher airlines banner ad.

    • matt - Sep 13 2007

Are the male employees also 'air hostesses' or does Kingfisher not have any? When I flew Jet, they had both male/female like all other airlines I've been on.

    • shiwani - Sep 13 2007

i think jet just started hiring men recently - don't know if indian airlines does (although they do hire a variety of age groups). either way, there are still only a sprinkling of men working the other airlines (i've heard them referred to as "stewards" and the women as "air hostesses" - awesome, right? not sure of "official" terminology). i have a feeling king fisher will be forced to follow suit soon, but so far i've only seen women.

    • tigerexotique - Sep 13 2007

i flew on Jet and Indian, and have seen male "stewards" on both.

    • shiwani - Sep 13 2007

oh yeah, i remember men working the indian airlines flights too -they were saying they switched over when sahara got bought out or something.

    • mohit - Sep 13 2007

the Economist said that Kingfisher is air hostesses only...but shiwani would know better.

    • shiwani - Sep 13 2007

haha NO, i'm saying kingfisher IS only air hostesses right now but they'll probably get sued. but i don't agree that's the ONLY reason kingfisher is doing well - their service is incredible and they were doing things in terms of customer satisfaction to differentiate themselves from jet and indian. attributing their success to the air hostesses is an oversimplification. i'm also saying trying to get away with hiring only young, glamorous air hostesses isn't something other airlines haven't tried...

    • matt - Sep 13 2007

I first flew Jet 3 years ago and they had men. United Airlines still calls them Flight Attendants - but they do have role titles that they sometimes use as well such as "Purser". As far as Kingfisher's hiring profile goes, if they only hire 'slim' women, I'm sure it's only because the aisles are so narrow ;-)
