Wow, I remember he said something years ago about he might be willing to vote for Obama if he ran, but I didn't believe it would survive a campaign.
I think he may be starting to realize that as much as he would like McCain's policies to favor him, they almost certainly will not.
In general I feel like a lot of our friends vote Republican either strictly because of the social platform, or because they don't want higher taxes on the Fortune 500 company they think they're going to found.
