This Ad blocker is hugely popular (Firefox states the addin in getting 260,000 WEEKLY downloads!)
Very controversial as it's use probably violates the terms of service of any web site that is being sponsored by advertising content.
Filterset.G is a companion to Ad Blocker that autmoatically updates a subscription file with a database of all the most common ad servers.

WORKS LIKE A CHARM TO RID OFF ALL WEB BASED ADVERTISING IN FIREFOX
You no longer have to click on each add and hit "remove" although that feature still works. The software communicates with other users to automatically locate the adds within the web page. It's like a dream only I downloaded it right now.

There are 2 others which are invaluable, and one more:
AdBlock Hiding Helper and FlashBlock. (Remind me to dig up the urls.)
Lastly, I've added another blocker (not on this computer, so I can't recall its name.)
I use them to stop the flashing ads that impede my reading of text. Newspapers don't use video ads and TV uses serial (monogamy?) ads.
We like the commercial that procedes accuweather forecast, tho not the inline ads that clutter the page so I can't find the forecast. I especially like the bad guitar playing jerk that proudly proclaims Microsoft is Dumb.
