We just ordered two of them at my office. I'm getting one for "field testing", but i bet they'll change their mind and give it to someone else. Jerks.

I've not had a Mac for over 10 years - though I started our as a Mac developer in the 1980's. An interesting experience I had in using a friends Mac - it all seems very foreign and illogical. Despite the matra of "easier to use" and computing "for the rest of us", an operating system is a language and set of paradigms that must be learned. Moving to the Mac will be like learning a foreign language. "How do I configure a printer?", "Where can I change my WiFi settings?".... A user coming from the PC world will will have many episodes of bewilderment.
But also, many episodes of Joy, from what I hear from friends who are Mac users. I'm sure your experience dealing with photos, video, and music will be improved and very good.
I would NOT expect higher reliability - I think that is a myth - and I often hear about Mac's crashing - just as much as PC's.
I will probably buy a Mac someday - but add it to a multi-PC environment as another tool in the shed.

Oh please- you will never look back once you make the plunge. I was meeting with the head of R&D of a large simulation contactor for the military a couple od months ago- he has published several books and been a pioneer in simulation. In the middle of the conversation with several others he leaned over and said " I have a suprise to show you" He pulled out a 15" Powerbook and said " I am having fun again- I can't believe I didn't do this a long time ago. Everyone in the group was shocked but me!
I would go for the new 15" with superdrive and extra RAM. If you don't like it I will buy it from you! Hows that for a pitch!

1 FaverViewed: 2 TimesQuoted: Move over notebooks. Netbooks have arrived. These compact, low-priced laptops pack a lot of computing power into a small container. They include word processing, e-mailing, and access to the Web via Wi-Fi connections. Most also double as still cameras and Webcams. And because they use less powerful chips, these devices often boast battery life of five to seven hours.
