At a talk last night by Tim Flannery, the topic of buying a new Hybrid versus continuing to drive an old vehicle came up yet again. But as can be seen from this website, the CO2 emission equivalent of embodied energy in a vehicle is trivial (6%) compared to the vehicle use (75%) and fuel production costs (19%). So go buy that Prius.
