I think this is a neat idea - an entire back catalog of the New Yorker sold to you on an 80GB branded hard drive. It certainly takes up less space than 4,000 magazines.
It's one of those things you won't need in a couple years though when the whole thing can be made available online just as easily and cost-efectively...

Definitely a nice idea once high-density media becomes more mainstream; every large publishing company will probably release compilation sets for people to snap up. Online version is nice in terms of ease of use, however, I suppose with new added content all the time that they would charge a recurring fee to continue to have access to all the data. With all the data on media, it's a one time, up-front cost.
