Yeah, odd. But if they have a loyal audience both paper and digital, they could (possibly) turn the old school into a new school social platform. Blending new with old (not only content but advertising models) to include news (staff and user-generated), editorials (public and staff), classifieds (swap, for sale, auction, etc) may be what they're looking to try. A lot of what exists today has some roots in the classic newspaper business. Or this guy just wants to move to the UK ;-)
Also, does this mean the acquisition is going through?
