Quoted: Yahoo! Flickr Browser and Photo Manager
With the advent of rich web services, the distinction between web and desktop applications is blurring.

To demonstrate the power and flexibility of these services, we prototyped a rich internet-enabled application based on Yahoo! flickr.

  • Quoted: The Nostalgia player is a slick desktop client for the popular photo-sharing site Flickr. It requires Microsoft's .Net 3.0 framework (a free download for XP users, it's built into Vista). Though Flickr is a decent Web 2.0 app, Flickr plus Nostalgia is in a different league. The application supports the quirks of Flickr--tagging, sets, and so on--and it does it in a fluid interface not unlike Google's Picasa, although it's not nearly as full featured. Nostalgia is better, even, than Yahoo Photos .

If you're a Flickr fan and you use a PC, it's worth trying out, if only to see the direction that Web 2.0 sites are heading in.

  • Nostalgia for Flickr users who want to organize all their phtoos from their desktop. Very smooth silky looking application!

  • A slick desktop client for the popular photo-sharing site Flickr. Vedere www.webware.com/8301-1_109-9697138-2.html

  • Nostalgia allows you to search flickr remotely and create local sets from the photos you discover. It also supports local photo management and synchronizes to your flickr account, allowing you to update your online photos as well.

Cool example of a 'connected client'. Uses WinFX, .NET 3.0.
