I would highly recommend going to this exhibit if you haven't already. My favorite part was the circulation room.
The scariest thing displayed was a Teratoma ("monster tumor") -- http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Teratoma
Looked like it was from a sci-fi horror movie!Quoted: Celebrate the wonder of the human form in the World Premier of BODIES … The Exhibition—a phenomenal look at the phenomena we call the human ...
I went to see this with my sister and brother and law this last weekend here in Seattle.
It was simply amazing to see. The volume of nerves and vessels was what amazed me most.
The production itself left a lot to be desired, as they left you with many questions unanswered (How old was this person?; Where is the cancerous polyp that you refer to in the description?; etc.).
Still, I highly recommend that if you have the chance, you go see it.

Who's coming to see this with me?
- ross - Sep 26 2006
I read about this exhibit. I'm just not sure...
- Katherine - Sep 26 2006
Yeah, I am slightly opposed because I don't want to support something that is vaguely connected to black market body harvesting but according to the website, their bodies are legit and okay. The interweb said it so it must be true, right?
But you're right...the ethical and moral issues associated with the exhibit make it a little weird. Or are you sqeemish about seeing bodies?
- kabir - Sep 26 2006
ill be there for the pre-opening gala on friday - what day are you planning on going?
- Katherine - Sep 26 2006
Lucky bastard! :-) I hadn't really planned on a day yet...it runs until December so I figured I'd have plenty of time to see it. Any tickets still available for Friday though?
- ross - Sep 26 2006
I'm not necessarily squeemish. I hadn't thought of the body harvesting issues but I certinaly agree with that. I guess the whole concept seems macabre to me - I understand that artists want to push boundaries but using human bodies as clay seems crude to me. I prefer a bit more abstraction when it comes to representing the human form. I mean would you want one of those in your entryway?
- Katherine - Sep 26 2006
Ah, see I view this more as an anatomy lesson than art. Of course, science can be beautiful too...I think quadratics are beautiful but I don't think they count as art, per say. I see this exhibit as an opportunity to really see what's going on inside us.
(side note..someday I will invite you to an event where people are actually wearing clothes)
- ross - Sep 26 2006
Fair enough - I'll buy that. Count me in :)
- Katherine - Sep 26 2006
Sweet.

- Luther - Oct 03 2006
Nope, they are in a handy travel case. :)
- adam - Oct 04 2006
Seriously... can I check them out? I doubt I'll be able to make it to the exhibit and I'd love to be able to see *something*.

I thought this article and comments brought up some interesting moral issues with the exhibit:
