Faves for this Web page

I always go with two spaces after a sentence-ending period unless I am character constrained (Twitter or test messaging).

Quoted: I offer a few reasons why double spacing after a period is superior. I played far too much Typing Tutor to lose my precious double tap at the end of a sentence.

Oh no! BTW - the text editor in blogger changes all of your doubles to singles.

Amusing poll at the end. But it didn't allow one to provide the (arguably) "correct" answer. I remember years ago, back in the days of standalone word processors, the accepted style was both. Double space after a period if you're using a fixed-pitch font, and single space if you're using a proportional font. I still think that makes the most sense visually. (I notice that Dragon Naturally Speaking provides a single post-period space.
