That is very sad. I'm not quite sure why Bush threatened to veto "David's Law" if it passed through Congress. I'm guessing it has something to do with supporting his conservative Christian voter base.
However, James Dobson's claims that the basis of this bill would affect rights to free speech are unfounded, since there is a clause in the bill that clearly states that it will not supercede the first amendment.
I don't get Bush--he would rather worry about his religious political voter base than do what is morally right and protect human rights. I guess Bush's administration is not really a great protector of human rights with everything that's been going on in Abu Graib and Guantanamo Bay...
It is unfortunate that the political and moral values that our nation prides itself on are not always reflected by our actions.
