For Nikki
Quoted: Getting Real, the book, details the business, design, programming, and marketing concepts and methodologies of 37signals. The book is packed with keep-it-simple insights, contrarian points of view, and unconventional approaches to software design and development.
The smarter, faster, easier way to build a successful web application
I read the entire book last night and this morning and think it's great! While it feels a touch steep to sell a digital download for $19.95 of a sparse page tome (that you can't share with anyone), the value is in the content itself, and in this regard, I can't think of any passionate developer or internet company that would not agree with what's written here...
I would strongly suggest getting the group edition in your workplace if you expect more than 3 people to read it.
Tangentially, the book also gives you a formula for how 37signals continues to gain success with simple web applications.
The Dotted link takes you to the main page and gives you access to 4 free chapters. Try it out for yourself!

This is an awesome read. Sheds some light on the unnessary puffery built into projects these days with long project timelines and 200 page functional specs.

Laurel, this book is great. I bought the PDF version to distribute to my company. The writing gets cocky and presumptuous, but the simple tips are still useful. A great read for anyone interested in agile workflow.
hmmm... /me takes note of this... will read later.
